Ben van der Kooi arrested

"Will I arrested again like last Tuesday in The Hague?? I have no interest ass!! It's just that justice knows. ON TO A MUSLIM FREE EUROPE!!”
(Ben van der Kooi on the Stormfront forum)

Late last week, Ben van der Kooi arrested as a suspect arson in a Surinam mosque in Rotterdam. Who Van der Koois activities within the extreme right circuit has somewhat, This hardly comes as a surprise. Friend and foe would know that this was a predictable scenario. The question is whether she is to blame.

Last 11 June, the National Alliance organized a demonstration against the construction of the Surinamese Shaan-e-Islam mosque in Rotterdam South. The mosque was looking for a new space, because the existing building in the Aleidisstraat was too old and become too small. The National Alliance hold these plans to organize a demonstration against this and other mosques.

On the day of the demonstration showed that about forty people wanted to demonstrate it. Behind the kopspandoek with the text "Mosque? Taking away!!"Walked party chairman Jan Teijn and Ben van der Kooi, the creator of the banner, fraternally together. For the rest, the demonstration was mostly a jumble of shaved young. An event that no new value would have had if the Rotterdam police were not passed to the arrest and removal of several dozen protesters. Accordingly, this book seemed closed, until three days later, the current building of the Shaan-e-Islam mosque was set on fire and burnt. On the facade of the building were some cries dyed, which suggested an extreme right-wing background of arson: a Celtic cross, "According R.I.P." en "Lonsdale". An important detail is the fact that the mosque caught between other shops and homes, allowing the offender knowingly took the risk that major accidents would happen.

After the fire was extinguished, noted that the fire there was arson and police began an investigation.

In many places, the link was made to the demonstration of the National Alliance a few days earlier, much to the displeasure of the party. Chairman Jan Teijn reacted furiously, the allegations mentioned tasteless and threatened to take direct action against anyone who falsely accused the party. Furthermore, he stated: "Of course we choose a political party is not a violent solution to the problems within Islam. Our way is the way of the ballot box. Once we are in power we will this country democratic reform and then all the people hostile elements are removed from our society. "Ben van der Kooi himself responded to the National Alliance Forum with: "Outrageous. Oh dear poor people who do. "Followed by three smiley faces.

Within the entire right-wing landscape was then reacted to this striking attack. In general, the fire was labeled as positive event and the (unknown) perpetrator got all the accolades. But there will be on the extreme right part of the Internet to read the necessary responses, which the perpetrator sought in leftist or Islamic circles. The perpetrator would have intended to put the National Alliance a heel.

The police investigation progressed rapidly, when camera images appeared to be of a man on the hot summer night of the arson a few times along the mosque was cycled with a cap with ear muffs on, a jerrycan back of his bike and something obscure in his hand. The camera images were shown on the television program "Investigation Requested", which became clear to many people that Ben van der Kooi was probably involved in this attack. On the forum of the New Right writes a friend of Van der Kooi: “but since I know that Ben and he on the picture for me personally certainly recognizable(just see this for the first time), already says a lot” en even later: “if you know Ben, then you almost certainly know that he can have something to do with it. When I saw the photo of Investigation Requested, when I recognized it'm something of this” en “But I think there is a big chance that he can sit behind. I am not saying that he did it, but not that he has not done.” A few days after this broadcast Ben van der Kooi was therefore arrested.

Who is Ben van der Kooi?
In May 2003 we wrote an article about the activities of Ben van der Kooi. Briefly came that article means that Van der Kooi is a major right-wing activist, of all kinds of parties was a member (LPF to VB and OSL to Stormfront Netherlands). He walked consistent meetings and actions of those organizations sometimes was also an important networker between the various organizations. Broadly speaking, it is still the story of Van der Kooi. He feels involved in all organizations he considered right enough (#1): Liveable Rotterdam, Outpost, New Right, but especially the National Alliance.
For the latter party, he has always been very active since its founding. The National Alliance is actually a spin-off of the - now defunct - NNP. The current president of the Alliance, Jan Teijn, werd in 2002 elected councilor for the NNP part in the district of Rotterdam Feyenoord. Except Teijn was Florens van der Kooi elected to the district council, the brother of Ben van der Kooi.

Jan Teijn

After a year in the council Teijn Jan was also in charge of the NNP circuit assigned Rotterdam. Lang was not that good. After a month he received fierce quarrel with Florens van der Kooi on the financing of the Rotterdam circle. Teijn sold nazi music CDs, in their own words to finance department. Florens van der Kooi saw this action Teijn determined not sit and Teijn left the NNP. Even Ben van der Kooi received during this period big argument with his brother, and he left the NNP. Jan Teijn then founded the "List Jan Teijn" on, die in november 2003 passed in the National Alliance.
Ben van der Kooi performed all the necessary hand- span and services List Jan Teijn and touched from its foundation also heavily involved with the National Alliance. Went into the half years of the existence of that party rarely a meeting or action beyond where Ben van der Kooi was not present. He even had several times with only one or two others present (usually including chairman Teijn). Apart from its continuous presence, he is an indispensable pillar of the party: he creates new members, drag people along to actions and meetings, widely disseminates propaganda and makes almost all banners for the party.

After his arrest Teijn chairman stated that Ben van der Kooi was a "known", but no member of the party. That is to say the least implausible: Teijn and Van der Kooi worked so closely, that they were demonstrably more than "acquaintances". Whether Van der Kooi was a member of the National Alliance of course not be answered with certainty. But it is a fact that Van der Kooi was also present at meetings, who were party members only visible.

As stated earlier, Van der Kooi also been active in other parties and organizations, including the New Right of Michiel Smit, although not in relation to his standing activities for the National Alliance. See hier For an overview of its activities and notable Internet messages from the past ten months.

Besides his activities in the streets and halls, Van der Kooi is also an extremely avid participant of all sorts of far-right internet forums. It concerns both forums that are linked to extreme right-wing parties (Nationale Alliantie, New Right, Liveable Rotterdam) as independent forums (Stormfront, Holland-Hardcore, Polinco, forums of various groups Fortuynist). Due to the large volume of messages he left on all the forums, it is impracticable, to paint a complete picture of the scope of this article all that he has written. But there is obviously something to say about, particularly his posts in arson in mosques. Briefly,: The fascination Ben van der Kooi regarding burning mosques exhibits is remarkably unhealthy. If there is any sign of the country of such arson, Van der Kooi is frequently the first to report that with a lot of bells and whistles on the Internet. Mosques in his terminology "Kots Chain" or "Hate Cabins" and the perpetrators "resistance fighters" or "freedom fighters".

Reacties
The reactions within the extreme right circuit at the arrest of Ben van der Kooi are very diverse to mention, but of amazement actually seems hardly. Van der Kooi put his opinion, as shown above, therefore not hide. The Groningen right-wing extremist Jan Landman says, for example: "Incidentally, I get, after deeper by reading all kinds of writings, Also Ben van der Kooi itself, growing feeling that Ben would have done have been able, however (perhaps to his chagrin) did not actually. I have no evidence for it, I just get that feeling when reading all of what was written in the appropriate fora ". Others praise his courage, believed that he is the perpetrator: "If he did it then I congratulate him on his courage." (Polinco), "I think it's really unfortunate that many of these people who burn vomit keen, in a short time to be picked up. Then the police can seemingly do anything. Again keep it maybe a few other people from, to do the same… I respect this Ben, and what he has done…” (Holland Hardcore), "A resistance fighter who tries to stop the murderers of Theo van Gogh on non-life threatening manner, however, is in jail, indicated by a polder fascist traitor. " (Stormfront), “If you are facing barbarians, Civilization has to bow horn, you'll have to sink deeper than you ever thought possible self to your culture and saving your own ass. And otherwise you can not save it ! And that is that one of those “thousands 'Bens'” Rotterdam already fine by” (New Right), "That boy has at least does LEF; have guts, stem LPF (Fortuyndiscussie).
In addition, it is much sought after in plots in which the hand of Muslims or left-wing is seen in the stop. The motive would be in the blackening of the National Alliance, or collecting insurance premiums. Some conspiracies even further and suggest a structure of government, to Van der Koois doopceel to explain or to force him to become an informant. Some comments opted for the typical extreme right underdog role: is reviled that Van der Kooi is arrested, but that immigrants go unpunished. Also Jan Teijn do it with: "Finally, we would like to congratulate the police and the judiciary with this potential claim in the study. Were they just as quickly with solving the crimes the ordinary Dutch people have to deal with daily. But no, organizations such as the Hofstad group may with impunity in the Netherlands have their way. Dutch no, for we well not once belong to a group canonized by our government. "

The National Alliance
The predominantly positive reactions to the arson and the negative reactions to the arrest of Ben van der Kooi from the extreme right field of interest. But even more interesting is the question of what the National Alliance as a decision of the will and one another. The answer to that question has two faces, like the National Alliance itself: the official position and the views to and from its own rank. Outwardly, the Alliance presents itself as a right-wing democratic party, with strong views on migrants, which is far from violence, Racism and anti-democratic sentiments. To and through their own supporters, however, communicated an entirely different message. Briefly, in speeches, forum postings and other groceries proclaims a clear message: The Alliance is a strong racist and anti-Semitic party, Worship where Hitler and Third Reich sentiments are the order of the day. To achieve political success is not condemned violence against political opponents and ethnic minorities, but openly welcomed. Attacks against mosques are characterized as acts of resistance against an occupier.
Also in this case we see this mix, but with an extra dimension: Chairman Jan Teijn hit in the days surrounding the arrest of Ben van der Kooi visible panic, since the party and he does sit very close to the fire. Significant in this context is a message from Jan Teijn at the party forum: "The person has done this sort of thing is not NA. member.

If this would be he does have willfully damaged the party. Even a small child knows that you do not have to mosque on fire after stabbing against three days ago demonstrated. "The official Alliance statements are full of distantiëringen. In a first reaction was that the Alliance rejects all forms of violence and that they will take steps against accusations, who associate the party with the arson (#2). However, two days later, John felt Teijn more wetness, when he stated in an interview that he did not rule out that the fire was founded by a member (#3). Well Teijn promised that he would expel any perpetrator from within the company and to the police, something he did not do otherwise after the broadcast of Investigation Requested. After the arrest of Ben van der Kooi Alliance released a press statement outside, where the responsibility of the party central: There is not called by the Alliance to violence, Van der Kooi was not a member, but a "known" and also active for parties like the New Right and Liveable Rotterdam.
But the responses from the grassroots. At the party forum were to read the necessary responses. A partijsympathisant says: "It really does not surprise me that he was arrested, I did not say more about it .. ". Another regular poster on the forum suspect the fire was lit by Muslims, but "unlikely event prove that the fire YET is lit by a Dutchman, However, not what I believe, I hope this remains at large, because a good deed for our country should not be punished. "Also party prominent Virginia Kapic (#4) does well on the forum and allows her fellow party members a rhetorical question: "Fair is fair; I can not lie awake, and we would we would be shedding crocodile tears to say that this is the case, is not it?”. Furthermore Kapic believe that a mosque is not necessarily a good target: "If you ask me that had (if it still would take place) be a synagogue of the Zionist. Which allows for this division. "

Kortom, in the circles of the National Alliance to know the distantiëringen party leader Teijn no undivided support(#5). Indeed, to by Teijns in comparison to the Hofstad reasoning: it's a good question to what extent the National Alliance is a network, where these arson as functional agent is seen in the political struggle. The continuing racist character, the rave with and encourage violent actions by party and framework and the involvement of party members and activists to violence are at least indications that the National Alliance is holding another agenda after she suggested on the outside. The extent to which the party is also legal to charge is another, but at least as interesting, question.

#1 How wonderful that can work when he turns his holiday plans for summer 2005 Internet puts: he wants to visit the office of the separatist Lega Nord in Italy and of the opportunity to visit both the tomb of Pim Fortuyn as that of Benito Mussolini.

#2 Important to know that Teijn board was the CP'86's when the party was banned. The "ban fear" that yielded this shows itself clearly in this case.

#3 An interesting detail is that this article on the forum of the National Alliance was posted by Ben van der Kooi.

#4 Kapic was until recently Secretary of the National Alliance

#5 Teijn closed the Internet forum of the party after two days then off. He had now almost a full-time job deleting messages that did not like him. On the forum page he placed the message that the forum was offline due “diverse updates”. Nothing was less true.
